NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has wet-leased an additional Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Lithuania’s KlasJet. The plane, registered LY-LOC, entered into service on behalf of Air Serbia this morning on the Belgrade - Athens route, which was initially to be operated by a wet-leased Marathon Airlines Embraer E195 aircraft. Air Serbia severed ties with Marathon Airlines this week following an accident with one of its jets last Sunday in Belgrade. Air Serbia said that Embraer flights “will now be operated by other aircraft in the fleet to maintain traffic continuity". A total of eight flights were scheduled to be operated today from Belgrade by the wet-leased Marathon Airlines E-jets, including Athens (midnight service), Zurich (morning service), Frankfurt, Thessaloniki (afternoon service), Bucharest. Tivat, Sarajevo, and Milan. Instead, the B737-800 has been deployed to Athens, the Airbus A320 to Zurich, Thessaloniki, and Bucharest, while the A319 has been scheduled for Frankfurt, Tivat, Sarajevo, and Milan. Air Serbia already has two B737-800s on a longer-term wet-lease from KlasJet. In addition to Air Serbia, the Lithuanian carrier currently wet-leases its aircraft to France’s Air Austral, as well as to Congo Airways, and US-Bangla Airlines. KlasJet is a family member of Avia Solutions Group – the largest global ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) provider.
