Greece’s Aegean Airlines will launch a new nonstop service between Athens and Sarajevo, marking the route’s return after five years. Flights will commence on June 1 and run twice per week. Further flights details can be found here. Aegean last maintained nonstop operations between the two cities in 2019. The route was discontinued prior to the coronavirus pandemic. Last year, Aegean introduced Athens - Skopje - Sarajevo flights with fifth freedom rights between Skopje and Sarajevo. However, the service is not convenient for inbound passengers from Sarajevo heading to Athens with an over six-hour wait in Skopje. The route will continue during the summer as well, with the transfer time in Skopje reduced to three hours on the outbound sector.
