Virgin Australia has reopened their ‘priority lanes’ for business class and frequent flyers.

The airline’s loyal flyers will have the luxury to skip lines through airport check-ins, re-opening their ‘Premium Entry lanes’ directed to their flyer lounge during peak hours at airports in Brisbane and Melbourne.

The pass-through designed for travellers with only cabin bags will allow business class passengers as well as Velocity Gold and Platinum frequent flyers to check in through a dedicated security checkpoint instead of the main terminal.

The lanes will only be open between 5 a.m. and 10 am on weekdays, instead of the pre-pandemic schedule of an all-day service into the evening and on weekends.

A spokesperson for Virgin Australia has said the re-opening of their priority lanes is about acknowledging the value of time for loyal customers.

“We know time is important for our most frequent flyers, and our expanded security facilities in Brisbane and Melbourne are a ticket for loyal guests to quickly move through the screening process, so they can spend more time enjoying our lounge experience prior to their flight,” a Virgin Australia spokesperson said.

As Travel Radar have covered, Virgin Australia looks to be in better shape compared to the beginning of the pandemic when they were on the verge of collapse (last year seeing records in domestic travel sales).

So where are these lanes to Virgin’s lounge?

Virgin’s Melbourne lounge now sits behind the airport’s security, following the closure of Terminal 3’s security lanes to funnel all passengers through Terminal 4. Virgin will now set up its Priority Screening lane at T4.

Virgins lounge located in the Sydney T2 terminal launched its Premium Entry experience and has been shut since the beginning of the pandemic. The airline says that it is “continuing to work through options with Sydney Airport Corporation.”
