The Middle East’s largest airline, Emirates, and Canada’s national carrier, Air Canada, have joined forces in a new loyalty programme partnership.

The new partnership will offer frequent flyers of Emirates Skywards the chance to earn and redeem miles on all flights operated by Air Canada. Aeroplan members will also benefit from earning and redeeming points on all flights operated by Emirates.

Loyalty programme to benefit frequent flyers

Members of Emirates Skywards and Aeroplan will now have access to more travel choices. Flights operated by Air Canada have a network of more than 220 destinations worldwide. Emirates has access to more than 130 destinations across six continents such as Bangkok in Asia and Middle Eastern cities Muscat and Jeddah, via the airline’s home and hub, in Dubai.

Vice President of Emirates Skywards, Dr Nejib Ben Khedher welcomed the loyalty programme partnership, which will benefit flyers. He commented: “We’re very pleased to be enhancing our partnership with Air Canada and officially kicking off our joint loyalty programme offering. Together, close to 40 million frequent flyer members will be able to earn and redeem Miles across a joint network of more than 350 destinations and enjoy selected benefits, such as lounge access. We look forward to opening new horizons for our loyal members and to also welcoming Aeroplan customers onboard Emirates with our award-winning products and exceptional services.”

How passengers can earn more miles

The new loyalty programme partnership will enable miles on all eligible Air Canada flights. Emirates Skywards members can also redeem miles for reward tickets across Air Canada’s network. Flight rewards will start from 8,000 miles for a one-way reward ticket in Economy class and 16,000 miles for a one-way ticket in Business Class. Aeroplan members will be able to earn Aeroplan Points on all eligible Emirates-operated flights.

Aeroplan members can now redeem points for flights on Emirates Business Class and Economy starting at 15,000 points one-way with no carrier surcharges. The ability to redeem Aeroplan points for flights in Emirates First Class will be introduced in January 2023. More information can be found at Aeroplan partners (aircanada.com)

Passengers access to premium lounge

Super elite members of Emirates travelling in Economy Class will enjoy complimentary access to the Emirates Business Class Lounge along with one guest.

Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members travelling in Economy Class with Air Canada or Emirates can also enjoy complimentary access to Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Café in Toronto along with one guest.

Airlines are beginning to form strong partnerships that will improve consumer travel by offering more destinations, rewards and exclusive benefits for frequent flyers. In September of this year, Emirates announced a partnership with United Airlines.
