Skopje Airport will be linked to the city centre by rail under a new cross border project. The transport ministers from Macedonia and Serbia inked a Memorandum of Understanding last week to upgrade the rail network linking Belgrade and Skopje with the construction of a high-speed rail link between the two capitals via Niš, with an additional extension linking Skopje to Skopje Airport. The objective is to facilitate a significant increase in speed by modernising the existing line, aiming for speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour. The Memorandum between the two states outlines a collaborative effort to secure funding from the European Union for the joint venture project.
