Europe's busiest airline, Ryanair, will add six new destinations from Podgorica and the Croatian coast next year, as it continues to expand its operations throughout the former Yugoslavia. Furthermore, the budget airline plans to grow frequencies on existing services across the region. Ryanair will introduce its tenth destination from Podgorica, with flights to Gdansk launching on March 27. Services will run twice per week. Gdansk will become the fifth Polish city to be served from the Montenegrin capital. Ryanair faces no direct competition on the route. “We are very pleased with our Podgorica operations, which continue to perform strongly”, the Irish low cost carrier said. The bulk of Ryanair’s summer expansion in the region will be focused on the Croatian coast with the introduction of five new seasonal routes. The airline will launch new services from its summer base in Zadar to Munster, Rzeszow and Milan Malpensa Airport, as well as from Rijeka to Bergamo and from Pula to Katowice. Zadar - Malpensa will run alongside Bergamo. At its Zagreb base, the carrier will restore seasonal operations to Bratislava, Brindisi, Corfu, Malmo and Thessaloniki, while flights between Zagreb and Dortmund are yet to be put on sale for next summer. The carrier has told EX-YU Aviation News that its Zagreb network for next summer season, which begins on March 26, is yet to be finalised.
