Ryanair introduced services between Vienna and Tuzla yesterday, marking the start of operations to its second destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina after Banja Luka. The budget airline handled 141 passengers on the inaugural flight, operated by its subsidiary Lauda Europe. The carrier is continuing to expand its presence in Tuzla with flights from Stockholm and Memmingen to be launched today. “It was a complex process to bring Ryanair to Tuzla. The airline’s arrival holds huge potential for the future development of air traffic and other sectors in the Tuzla Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the General Manager of Tuzla Airport, Dževad Halilčević, said. Ryanair competes against Wizz Air on all three of its newly launched routes. Wizz has been Tuzla Airport’s only scheduled year-round operator for years and boasts a base in the city. It plans to put a greater emphasis on its Tuzla operations following the closure of its Sarajevo base this week. It inaugurated flights from Tuzla to Eindhoven yesterday.
