This deal is only for economy fares — and both Alaska Airlines and JetBlue have similar policies for their most basic economy options. Passengers flying with Alaska Airlines’ Saver option are the last to board. Meanwhile, JetBlue does not allow passengers to choose a seat with its Blue Basic option.

However, Alaska does let you bring one free carry-on to your flight, while JetBlue does not allow any carry-ons with basic economy. Both charge $60 for the first checked bag.

For a flight with JetBlue, you can pay extra to select a seat. Seat prices range from $8 to $94; the more expensive seats are roomier and positioned toward the front of the aircraft. If you have a pet, JetBlue has a $125 fee to bring your pet on board.
Alaska only charges extra if you select a premium seat, which costs an additional $159. Premium seats are toward the front of the aircraft, have more legroom and offer complimentary drinks. Passengers who pay an extra $159 for premium seats also receive priority boarding.
