Goldair Handling from Greece has become the latest ground handler to begin operating at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. Serving 31 airports, Goldaair handled its first flight from Belgrade last Friday, December 15, with LOT Polish Airlines becoming its first customer. “This expansion marks a significant step forward for the company, extending its high-quality handling services to Belgrade and further strengthening its presence in the region. With its expertise and commitment to excellence, Goldair Handling aims to deliver top-notch services and contribute to the efficient operations of Belgrade's aviation industry”, Goldair Handling said in a statement. The Serbian government liberalised ground handling operations at Belgrade Airport several months ago, enabling any ground handling company that meets requirements set out by the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate to operate at the airport. Previously, the airport was limited to three ground handlers. The UK’s Menzies Aviation will take over Air Serbia’s ground handling from February of next year, while a number of companies, including Wizz Air, as Belgrade Airport’s second busiest airline, are handled by Sky Partner, set up by two French companies in 2012. According to local media reports, Belgrade Airport plans to stop providing its own ground handling services in the future, with external companies to do so instead, which is common at most European airports.
