Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport plans to increase its passenger service charge for international travellers and other fees from January 1, 2024 when a new incentive scheme to stimulate the launch of new routes will also come into effect. The airport will increase its passenger service charge for those flying on international routes by 5% from the existing 19.16 euros to 20.18 euros. The service charge for domestic passengers, transfers, as well as the security charge will remain unchanged. Airlines will have to fork out additional funds for the use of the airport’s infrastructure and common use equipment, all of which will also increase by 5%. The airport decided to drop initial plans to charge a premium to airlines for the use of its infrastructure during peak hours, as well as offer discounts during quieter times of the day. “During consultations with carriers and based on the received feedback on the revised pricelist, it has been decided that increases/discounts shall not be applied to flights during peak/out-of-peak periods so as not to jeopardise the development of the regional hub concept, which incorporates the development of operations to new markets, both in terms of short/medium-haul flights and intercontinental traffic”, the airport explained. Starting on January 1, Belgrade Airport will also role out a revised incentive policy, replacing the previous one which came into force this April. Airlines introducing new short- or medium-haul routes will be subject to discounts involving passenger service charges for a three-year period and for landings for a period of two years, while carriers launching new long-haul flights will enjoy fee reductions for both over a three-year period. These incentives are only available for the introduction of routes which have not been served from the airport over the past twelve months. “Belgrade Airport strives to effectively adapt to new trends and through its own development stimulate the faster recovery and development of the aviation market. Belgrade Airport’s aim is to, through the new (amended) incentive plan, create conditions for the accelerated recovery of air traffic, continue the development of the regional hub concept and facilitate connections with new markets, both short/medium-haul and intercontinental traffic”, the airport said.
