Air Serbia will today announce and put on sale the first of its new routes for the 2023 summer season, with four destinations to be unveiled. This will be followed by batches of new route announcements up until mid-December. Speaking at the CAPA Aviation Summit in Gibraltar yesterday, the carrier’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “The first batch of new routes will be coming on Friday and every three days we will announce a new batch of routes so that by mid-December we will have them all on sale for next summer. These new routes are driven mostly by connectivity and leisure, and they are mostly in Europe”. The first set of the new destinations to be announced today will be popular summer holiday routes but will also provide good connectivity onto the remainder of the airline’s network. None have been maintained from Belgrade on a scheduled basis in the past. The Serbian carrier is expected to add a large number of new destinations next year. Mr Marek recently said, “We will continue to work on expanding our destination network primarily to tourist destinations, which has proven to be a complete success this year”. This summer, the Serbian carrier launched operations to the likes of Palma, Valencia, and Bari. The carrier recently scheduled services for what will become its third long haul destination, to Chicago, which will run up to three times per week. Flights will commence on May 17. Air Serbia is also expected to return to the Middle East. Although originally planning to restore services to Tel Aviv this winter, the airline has pushed this back due to operational reasons. It plans additional destinations in the Middle East next year as well. This summer, Air Serbia’s CEO noted, “We are looking at Central Asia, countries like Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, for which Belgrade would be a good option for connecting to Europe. We also have the Middle East on our radar”. This news item will be updated during the day.
