Air Serbia is set to take delivery of its eighth ATR72-600 aircraft in the coming weeks with the turboprop currently being painted in the airline's livery (pictured). The nine-year-old plane, formerly operated by Azul, will be registered YU-ASF. Air Serbia concluded an agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital for the dry-lease of three ATR72-600s, which will bring the airline's turboprop fleet up to ten aircraft. All deliveries are expected in the coming months. Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said last year, “The optimal size of the ATR72 fleet, I would say, is ten because then you can start benefiting from some economies of scale. The ATRs perform extremely well; they are extremely profitable. We went through a massive project and completely grounded the ATR72-200s and -500s, replacing them with the -600s instead. We will continue to grow this regional fleet as it is important for higher frequencies and improving hub connectivity and ultimately helps to expand long-haul".
