NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia flight JU652 from Belgrade to Moscow was forced to return back to Nikola Tesla Airport on Friday afternoon shortly after departure due to an anonymous e-mail sent to Belgrade Airport warning of a bomb on board. The Airbus A330-200 aircraft landed safely in the Serbian capital, with all 209 passengers evacuated. The jet was inspected by anti-terrorist police units and no explosive devices were found. Other flights continued to operate normally to and from Belgrade Airport. According to media reports, the e-mail message included the author's discontent with Serbia's relations with Russia. Air Serbia is one of the few European airlines able to operate into Russia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine as Serbia has not imposed sanctions onto the country. Air Serbia has another flight scheduled to Moscow this evening, the third for the day. Police said it is in the process of identifying the author of the threatening e-mail.
