Live the High Life for a Low Cost as Wizz Airlines Expands Their Market in Saudi Arabia
Wizz Airlines is known mostly for its low-cost flights, which currently operate in 51 countries. In June, the airline was awarded Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline at this year’s World Finance Sustainability Awards and prides itself on its fleet consisting of the environmentally-friendly Airbus A320 family.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Wizz Airlines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia earlier this year, routes to destinations such as Dammam and Riyadh are set to take place at least twice a week, with the first flight from Rome to Dammam scheduled for the 28th of this month (Sunday). In June, President of Wizz Air Robert Carey had this to say about the new partnership:
“The recently signed MoU demonstrates our commitment to supporting travellers to and from Saudi by bringing in a new era of air travel with our ultra-low fares, point-to-point network, and high quality onboard service. Unlocking travel opportunities for everyone is the core of our brand and we will keep delivering on that by granting access to travellers to and from Saudi to our incredibly low fares. The WIZZ team is looking forward to welcoming passengers of all ages onboard our modern, young, and green aircraft soon, and to supporting the 2030 vision.”

Plans to Build Saudi Arabia’s Travel Industry are Underway
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program is an extensive document detailing the country’s aim to diversify and grow its economy, and within this manifesto is how they aim to triple its tourism traffic by 2030.
Wizz Airlines has steadily been growing its connections with other countries and in order to help Saudi Arabia meet their goals, they’ve reportedly offered 1 million low-fare seats to fly to the country’s popular destinations.
“We are delighted to have been able to work with both Wizz Air and Dammam Airport to grow traffic, in particular inbound tourism, from key European markets into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We look forward to the success of these routes and working with both our partners to grow the Wizz Air network into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” – Khalil Lamberet, CEO of The Air Connectivity Program said.
As Wizz Airlines expands its business to the Middle East, passengers from Europe will be able to explore other countries for a low fare with the budget airline. Flights from Rome to Dammam commence this Sunday and fares start from €54.99.
