British Airways have decided to expand the use of the VeriFly app. Over 500,000 customers have successfully utilised the pass, according to the airline,

to ensure they have the correct documentation ahead of their trips.”

The opening of US flights to the UK and European nationals on November 8, 2021, will boost app usage, and British Airways claims that

by the end of the year, the entire network of its route network will be covered by a facility that allows customers to have their documents reviewed before travel.

In for the Long-Haul

Since its first release, the app has been updated several times. The software was recently updated to include the ability to read QR codes found on documents such as vaccination certificates and the UK passenger locator form. Travelers are still having issues using the app, according to comments on our own evaluation.

It is currently accessible on all flights to North, South, and Central America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South Africa, the Cayman Islands, Egypt, and European destinations such as Bulgaria, France, Croatia, Ireland, and Switzerland, as well as most flights into the United Kingdom.

The airline claims to have reached a deal with Daon, the technology firm behind VeriFly, for a long-term partnership.

The initial goal of the app was to give a document checklist for passengers, preventing them from arriving at the airport without the essential travel documents. Travelers can use the VeriFLY mobile app to upload any Covid-19-related documentation they need for their trips, such as vaccination records, negative Covid-19 results, and government documents. If the technology accepts these documents, they are then ‘verified’ prior to flying. Customers can then check to see if they’ve met the Covid-19 entry requirements for their destination before heading to the airport.

Customers can validate their Covid-19 documents using ‘Manage My Booking’ on ba.com for countries where VeriFly is not available, and once verified, they will be able to check in online. Hong Kong, Nigeria, Ghana, Singapore, India, the Maldives, and Pakistan, as well as a few European cities, are among the destinations.

Does the app make you feel safer while flying? Do let us know in the comments below!
