What is an Airline Alliance?
Three leading airline alliances exist Sky Team, Star Alliance and Oneworld. An airline alliance is an aviation industry arrangement between two or more airlines agreeing to cooperate substantially. Partnerships may provide marketing branding to facilitate travellers making inter-airline codeshare connections within countries. Star Alliance includes many of the world’s topics and aviation companies, smaller, more regional carriers. Together, they offer easy connections to almost any destination in the world.

Star Alliance Achievements
Star Alliance’s achievement started this year with a win at the Skytrax 2022 World Airline Awards earlier in September. That saw the Alliance winning World’s Best Airline Alliance and World Best Airline Lounge, and eight of its member airlines also won in several other categories.
In Singapore on November 12th, 2022, Star Alliance was named the World’s Leading Airline Alliance at World Travel for the third consecutive year. Star Alliance CEO Jefferey Goh said in receiving these awards: “we are incredibly delighted to be receiving the World Travel Award for the third successive year. This is particularly fitting as they celebrate their 25th anniversary this year.”
Now the World Travel Award is in its 29th edition. The annual awards are awarded based on a worldwide poll of qualified executives working within travel and tourism and the consumer travel buyer. This year the World Award Grand final Gala Ceremony 2022 was held at the Al Bustan, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, on November 11th 2022, in Muscat, Oman.
Graham E Cooke, Founder of World Travel Awards, said: “Star Alliance continues to set the benchmark for global aviation. He is delighted that the travel trade and the public have acknowledged this by voting it the World’s Leading Airline Alliance 2022 at the World Travel Awards.
World Travel Award released a short clip of a message from Star Alliance CEO Jefferey Goh receiving the award. They are proud and honoured that Star Alliance yet again has been voted World’s Leading Airline Alliance.
In addition to these two awards won at the alliance level, several Star Alliance member carriers also came away as individual winners this year. Nine of them won awards in 21 categories, ranging from World’s Leading Airline – First Class, to Leading Airlines in Europe, Oceania, Asia and Mexico & Central America.
