Rock-it Global, a Global Critical Logistics (GCL) company, has joined the SmartWay program, which helps companies advance supply chain sustainability.

Rock-it Global

Rock-it is a speciality freight forwarding and logistics company that provides custom solutions for the live entertainment and music touring industries, theatrical, sports and motorsports, broadcasting, corporate events, and trade show markets.

What is the Smartway Program

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed the SmartWay program. SmartWay is a collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and industry to provide expertise to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of supply chains.

The Smartway Program was launched in 2004 as a voluntary public-private program.

To reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment. It has put in place a set of measures, such as:

Reduces freight transportation-related emissions by accelerating the use of advanced fuel-saving technologies.Helps companies identify and select more efficient freight carriers, transport modes, equipment, and operational strategies to improve supply chain sustainability and lower costs from goods movement.

SmartWay Partners with the likes of freight companies, carriers, logistics companies and other stakeholders to measure, benchmark and improve logistics operations to reduce their environmental footprint.

The Net Zero Emissions of Carbon

The pandemic has created a high demand, and to meet this demand, factories must produce quickly and in large numbers. The needs of the market force the logistics to work at the same pace and even faster to meet the needs of the consumers.

According to Smartway, In 2015, the U.S. logistics industry moved more than 49.5 million tons of goods worth nearly $52.7 billion daily, which is more than 56 tons of freight per person per year.

The supply chain, which uses a different type of transport, such as a marine vessel or plane, multiple times, according to Smartway Freight Transportation, is a significant contributor to air pollution.

Leaders of several countries and the business sector have set the goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. Japan Airlines will make its first Net Zero Carbon flight this November.

At this year’s Eurocontrol conference, various leaders took the floor to express their commitment and their concern about eliminating Net Zero by 2050, given that 70% of the aviation fleet is over 30 years old and uses conventional fuels.

Projections are that by 2025, as international commerce increases and supply chains become more global and complex, shipments of U.S. goods will grow another 23.5 %, and by 2040, a total of 45 per cent.
