Gold Coast Airport unveils images for their new international terminal set to open next month.
The $260 million terminal which is 10 years in the making after spurring through three construction companies – as part of a prescient wide redevelopment project – will welcome domestic passengers from September 8 followed by the arrival of international flyers in October.
Luxury travel title Executive Traveler were provided images of the refurbished facilities, that we reported the progress of in February. There are three levelled Southern Buildings featuring four glass aerobridges in addition to new boarding facilities, baggage handling and border control stations.
Aesthetically the terminal is furnished in shades of green and bronze in reference to the airports hinterland-side location also taking cues from its famous coastal location with subtle blues and greens.
Gold Coast Terminals to Become More Efficient
Gold Coast Airport will be continuing its renovations, refreshing existing terminals with a total of 18 new retail and eating outlets across the domestic and international airports set to be complete by mid-2023.
“This is the centrepiece in a $500 million investment in our Gold Coast Airport precinct,” explains Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans.
“We’ve done a lot of work in the airport terminal, including our airside processing zone, which helps ease congestion as you’re boarding the aircraft, and also the transport interchange,” adds Evans.
“But this $260 million building is what will make the difference. To the city of Gold Coast, to the tourism industry, to our passengers, to our team.”
The new terminal will allow the airport to host a total of 19 aircrafts at any one time, with airline flights from New Zealand, Singapore and Japan set to make their first arrivals in October.The Gold Coast Airport currently sees international flights with Scoot, Jetstar and Air New Zealand, while Virgin Australia will kick off its inaugural Bali services from March 2023.Will you be paying a visit to Gold Coast Airport’s new terminal?
