British Airways‘ Gatwick-based subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, has announced 5 new short-haul flights just in time for summer.  Montpellier, Corfu, Mykonos and Innsbruck have been added to its short-haul network, in addition to a new summer Salzburg service.

What places are on offer?

Beginning on the 27th of May 2023, British Airways will launch short-haul routes to Montpellier in the South of France. Flights will operate three times a week from London Gatwick.

There will also be a service to Mykonos and Corfu in Greece. BA Euroflyer’s Greek-bound services will support British Airways’ existing summer schedules out of Heathrow and Gatwick. Corfu will see three weekly flights from May 30, with a weekly Mykonos service launching on June 10.

Innsbruck in Austria will see an addition of eight weekly flights in the winter season which will help complement the current six times weekly service from London Heathrow. BA Euroflyer’s summer service to Salzburg will complement the existing winter services from London Gatwick and London Heathrow.

For those looking for a getaway during the cold winter months, BA has plenty of winter and city breaks to choose from. Short-haul routes include Geneva, Turin, Tenerife and Lanzarote. Tickets can be booked at BA Sale.

Positive response to short-haul flights

British Airways

British Airways continues to expand its short-haul flight routes including recently adding a new flight route between Florence and Heathrow.

Tom Stoddart, Acting CEO of BA Euroflyer, said: “It is exciting to see our short-haul schedule at Gatwick grow. These additional routes are to a broad range of destinations that will suit all manner of travellers from beach lovers and skiers to explorers and adventurers. We have something for everyone departing from London Gatwick.”

With the announcement of new routes, BA Euroflyer received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and Operating Licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This will allow it to operate as a subsidiary airline and deliver the British Airways service customers know and love.

What places to visit in Greece?

One of the short-haul routes on offer is to Corfu. One of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece, Corfu is an island in the Ionian sea known for its beautiful beaches and landscapes. It is also known for its charming architecture and features colourful buildings dating back centuries for tourists to explore. The island’s historic town is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The second place on offer to visit is the Greek island of Mykonos.

Mykonos is world-famous for its high-life party scene, visited by A-list celebrities such as Harrison Ford and Catherine Zeta-Jones and its spectacular sandy beaches. The architecture of Mykonos is one of a kind with whitewashed houses, alleyways and chapels and a row of 16th-century windmills, which sit on a hill above Mykonos town.
